UK GAS-Prices rise on undersupply, lower Norweigan imports

LONDON, Oct (Shenzhen: 000069.SZ - news) 31 (Reuters) - British wholesale rose on Wednesday morning as lower imports from Norway and strong demand from gas-to-power stations contributed to an undersupplied system.

* Day-ahead gas price up 1.10 pence at 65.00 pence per therm by 0930 GMT

* Within-day gas price up 0.55 pence at 66.00 p/therm

* "The system is quite short today, Norwegian flows are down and there is lower LNG (liquefied natural gas) send-out," a gas trader said

* Gas system undersupplied by 17.5 million cubic meters (mcm) with demand forecast at 280.2 mcm and flows at 262.7 mcm/day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed

* Flows from Norway through the Vesterled pipeline were down by around 9 mcm, Eikon Refinitiv data showed, while flows though the Langeled pipeline were down by around 1 mcm

* Vesterled flows have been impacted by an upstream gas field outage

* LNG send out from the Dragon LNG terminal is down 14 mcm compared with the previous day, Eikon Refinitiv data showed, although two tankers arrived in Britain at Dragon and South Hook on Wednesday

* Analysts at Refinitiv said demand for gas from power stations is high due to outages at several of Britain's nuclear plants

* Six of Britain's 15 nuclear reactors are currently offline for maintenance

* Further out on the curve prices also rose

* Nov. contract up 0.55 p at 65.60 p/therm

* Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS - news) . contract up 0.45 p at 69.45 p/therm

* Day-ahead gas price at the Dutch TTF hub up 0.35 euro at 24.08 euros per megawatt hour
