With the UK general election now only a few weeks away, councils across the country have published their official lists of nominated candidates for July 4.

All seven Northamptonshire constituencies are up for grabs after Rishi Sunak announced a snap election in late May. A total of 47 candidates from 11 different parties will be appearing on ballot papers in different parts of the county.

In the 2019 general election, the Conservative Party held all seven seats- however, Labour were able to snap up one in a by-election held earlier this year in February. Only four of the previous elected members of parliament will stand again for their constituency and three areas are sure to see a new face in office.

The Conservative Party, Green Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats and Reform UK have nominated a candidate in each of the Northamptonshire constituencies. Smaller parties include the Alliance for Democracy and Freedom, the Climate Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition and the Workers Party. Many areas also have at least one independent candidate running.
