UK heatwave won't hit everywhere with one part of England set to be hottest

UK hot weather charts show Scotland and the north of England facing a mini-heatwave. WX Charts, which publishes daily weather maps and charts, has shared its outlook and forecast for the coming days as the UK approaches the beginning of May following the end of April.

Temperatures could peak on May 3 at highs of 19C in northern Scotland - an unusually high figure when temperatures are peaking at just 10C this week. And England could see highs of 22C, with temperatures ranging from 18C into the early twenties.

Jim Dale, a meteorologist, said: "It may not last, but will be welcome if it evolves as currently seen. Temperatures will range from 18-22C, with room yet for higher. The rain and cooler temperatures may have been a blessing in disguise as we push on into summer."

It comes as the BBC Weather team predicts "warmer" weather for the first week of May. Speaking about the fifth month of the year, the Beeb said: "Temperatures could be slightly above average across the UK early next week, with potentially wetter and windier conditions prevailing as a persistent low pressure area remains around or just to the west of the UK for at least the first half of the week.

"Drier and warmer conditions may develop in the second half of next week as a ridge of high pressure extends from the Azores towards the UK and perhaps reaching into Scandinavia, but this is still uncertain. Areas of low pressure could remain over southern or south-western parts of the country for longer.

"This means that it could remain wetter and somewhat windier, especially in the south, but also in the far north-west, if a new Atlantic low approaches with its fronts towards the weekend. A milder trend is also expected for the night-time lows."
