A new map shows exactly when 20C temperatures will hit parts of the UK amid the first signs of summer. It comes following a slog of wet and windy weather in the West Midlands.

But from May 11 to May 13, warmer conditions are set to dominate across Britain. Forecaster WXCharts predicts highs of 20C in some areas as far north as Scotland.

It comes after parts of the UK were hit with thunderstorms this week with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning. One care home in East Sussex was evacuated after it was hit by a collapsed tree amid the storm.

More sustained warm and sunny weather is then expected to arrive in the middle of next week, with daytime highs expected to move back into the high teens by Wednesday afternoon. The Met Office's long-range forecast for Birmingham from Wednesday, May 8 to Friday, May 17 reads: "Strong signal for a continued build of high pressure across the UK by the middle of next week.

"This will bring more in the way of dry and fine weather for most areas, although there is still a chance of some showers in places at first, and a risk also of some more persistent rain rounding the high into north-western parts of the country. The high is likely to maintain influence into the weekend before starting to weaken the following week.

"So a continuation of fine conditions next weekend seems likely, before a return of less settled conditions by the end of the period. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal for early May."
