UK has more to do to understand why virus hits ethnic minorities harder, says Hancock

UK government daily briefing on coronavirus updates

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain has more work to do to understand why COVID-19 has a disproportionate effect on black and minority ethnic minorities, health minister Matt Hancock said on Tuesday.

"There is much more work to do to understand what is driving these disparities and how the different risk factors interact and we are absolutely determined to get to the bottom of this ..," he told reporters.

Hancock said equalities minister Kemi Badenoch would be taking the work forward, co-ordinating with Public Health England and other agencies.
