Unicorn toast is the newest food trend to hit Instagram
If there's anything the Instagram community loves, it's photogenic food. You know, the brightly-coloured type that looks gorgeous at almost any angle. Well luckily for amateur foodies, there's a new trend taking over. It's fun, bold and surprisingly healthy.
Meet "unicorn toast". This trend, made popular by Vibrant and Pure's Adeline Waugh, a Miami-based food stylist and photographer, brings a whole new meaning to "playing with your food".
Waugh uses all-natural ingredients to create a magical piece of watercolour-esque art atop a slice of toast.
The hashtags #unicorntoast and #mermaidtoast have been appropriated by fans across the internet who are sharing their toast creations with the Instagram community.
To achieve her edible rainbow, Waugh whips cream cheese or yoghourt with colourful powders and juices like turmeric, beetroot, matcha and blue algae. She then tops the toast with shapes made from fruits and vegetables (think: radish stars or mandarin flowers), natural sprinkles and even gold leaves.
