In response to Shelley’s spokesperson claiming that his band mates were “jealous” of his success, Jaymi Hensley admitted that it was “a very sad day” but revealed that it had been a mutual decision, as Shelley is reportedly keen to focus on other commitments.

In a lengthy Twitter post, which certainly surpassed the 140-character limit, Hensley wrote: “So I wanted to write this as its all getting a bit out of hand!

“George has decided he no longer could continue in Union J because he is pursue individual projects! I want it to come from my hand that I am very proud of George, the person he is and everything he has so far and will continue to achieve! He will always remain my brother!

"Of course I am utterly heartbroken that we are no longer a four and I am going to miss him beyond belief, but mutually we agreed that we would like to continue in Union J which George totally supported and it wouldn’t be fair for all the band members not to have the same goal at the minute!

"I can certainly say this decision has not come from any bad feeling, jealousy or anything else of that nature! I will always support and be George’s and so happy he is being amazing and slaying what he’s doing! Just a very sad day that has been blown out of proportion! (sic)”

In fact, all members of the remaining Union J trio rallied together to wish Shelley well on his new path.

JJ Hamblett expressed similar feelings as Hensley over the I’m A Celebrity runner-up’s shock exit from the group, admitting that they would “miss him” but he also focused on what the future holds for the band.

JJ wrote: “We have got some very EXCITING things coming your way in the next few weeks which I am sure you will be delighted with.”

And last but by no means least, Josh Cuthbert echoed his band mates comments by making it clear that it had been “mutually decided as a four” that George would not continue with Union J, despite having some “amazing memories” together.

Meanwhile, George has remained silent on the subject across his social media accounts, apart from re-tweeting his sister, who believed that it was unfair that things had been said before her brother had a chance to say his part.
