Yahoo News ‘Re: Uniting’: First-Look Clip From Jesse L. Martin-Starrer Ahead Of Austin Film Fest Premiere – Watch
EXCLUSIVE: Re: Uniting, a feature debut from Laura Adkin which reteams The Flash stars Jesse L. Martin and Michelle Harrison, is set to world premiere at the Austin Film Festival this coming weekend, and we’ve got a first-look clip, check it out above.
The story sees six best friends from college reconnect for their 25-year reunion and also stars Roger Cross (War For the Planet of the Apes), David James Lewis (Child’s Play), Carmen Moore (Nancy Drew) and Bronwen Smith (Firefly Lane). Select cast will be in attendance in Austin.

When Rachel (Harrison), receives life-changing news, she secretly grapples with her mortality while playing host to her friends who have grown up and gone their separate ways since college. Carrie, a mother of three, Natalie, a workaholic neurosurgeon, former football star turned sportscaster Collin, and playboy man-child Danny join Rachel and her husband Michael (Martin) at their picturesque home on the beautiful and secluded Bowen Island. As soon as they are all together it’s like no time has passed; they laugh, drink and dance the night away. Rachel’s nostalgia is echoed by the group as they realize how much time has gone by, and how much they have all changed. As secrets are revealed, they are forced to change the way they look at their futures.
British Columbia-based Adkin, who also wrote the screenplay, calls the film “a multi-generational story about aging, mortality and reflection, themes that have come up for me in my own life and I think people will relate to.”
Adkin began her career in the film and television industry almost 20 years ago. She started as an actor then moved behind the camera as a producer, writer and director. As a filmmaker, she has produced numerous films that have played in festivals around the world. Her directorial short debut, The Goodnight Kiss, received the Bravofact grant and went on to play festivals. She was selected for a female directors initiative through Disney and in 2017, was chosen to pitch for the MPPIA short film award, was a competition finalist at the Austin Film Festival, and was selected for the Women In the Directors Chair Career Advancement Module. Adkin also served on the board of Women in Film and Television Vancouver and currently teaches at Vancouver Acting School.
Re: Uniting is produced by Krista Rand. The film was made possible with Telefilm “partner’s in production,” William F. White International and UBCP/ACTRA. Amid the SAG strike, the team expressed its solidarity with the striking performers, and thanked SAG-AFTRA for authorizing the cast to be in attendance supporting Re: Uniting as it is a Canadian independent film under ACTRA jurisdiction.
