It wasn't to be for Jak Jones at the Snooker World Championship final but the top 16 newcomer won hearts and minds - and one unseen exchange with an audience member summed up his class.

The Welshman came through two qualifying rounds to make the Crucible but was one of the stories of the tournament as he frequently upset the odds on his run all the way to the Final. On his way there he downed fancied Stuart Bingham and favourite for the trophy Judd Trump, before a heartbreaking loss to Kyren Wilson in the Final, where he battled back from 7-0 down at one point in the first session only to lose on Monday night.

Jones' effort will see him skyrocket from 44th to the top 16 and all the benefits and prestige that come with it. Speaking after the match, the confident 30-year-old promised he will go one better and win the championship one day. And fans would love to see him back, competing with the likes of Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins again, after he became a popular figure in the Crucible.

Snooker MC and podcast host Phil Seymour, speaking on BBC Radio Wales, spotted a moment from Jones that summed up why he's so well-liked, as at one point he turned and blew a kiss to an audience member who shouted something to him.

He said: "It did look at one point last night that he could turn it around, which would have been amazing, but it wasn't to be. I will say though, he played with a smile on his face, which was great to see. Yesterday, there was one frame that he won, Kyren went off to the toilet, and Jak grinned at someone in the crowd then blew them a kiss. It was wonderful to see."
