Unseen season 2: All you need to knowNetflix

Note: The following article contains discussion of themes including suicide.

Unseen spoilers follow.

In Netflix's newest thriller Unseen — adapted from the streamer's 2021 Turkish series Fatma — a seemingly ordinary cleaning woman is pulled into a deadly criminal web while searching for her missing husband.

Although the show will feel very familiar to fans of the Turkish original, there's some potential for the series to thrive in its own right should it get a renewal.

With that being said, here's everything you need to know about a potential season two.

Netflix typically announces a renewal within one or two months of a new show's premiere — if viewing figures are up to scratch, of course.

Assuming the streamer considers it worthy of a follow-up season, new episodes of Unseen will likely debut in the spring of 2024.

As always, you can check in here for all the latest updates.

In the final moments of season one, Zenzi (Gail Mabalane) is pushed to her breaking point and attempts to take her own life by stepping off the roof of a building... just before the credits roll. With that, her fate is left very much up in the air, as there's no way of telling if she went through with it or if she survives.

However, Fatma (the character Zenzi is based on) also steps off a building in the final moments of the original series, but it's revealed that she survived the fall as she gasps for air before the credits begin.

There's no denying the storyline and characters in Unseen have been lifted directly from Fatma, so we think it's safe to assume that if Fatma survived, then Zenzi has too. After all, why leave the show open-ended if there weren't at least some plans for another season?

Other than Zenzi and her estranged sister Naledi (Dineo Langa), though, pretty much all the other characters have been killed off.

This includes gangsters Blessing (Rapulana Seiphemo), Raymond (Brendan Daniels), Jackson (Sherman Pharo) and Joseph (Hein De Vriesas), as well as Zenzi's husband and son, Max (Vuyo Dabula) and Esulu (Omhle Tshabalala).

The only way we can imagine seeing any of them pop up in season two is if there are some flashbacks involved.

After killing pretty much everyone involved in her husband's imprisonment, disappearance and eventual death, Zenzi's (albeit justified) crimes catch up with her and she's apprehended by the police.

However, just as she's about to confess, some corrupt police officers take her out of the station and head to a remote location in order to kill her.

Zenzi escapes by the skin of her teeth and goes to Blessing's club for one last showdown with Raymond, the gangster who murdered her son Elusu.

At the club, Theron ties Raymond up and tortures him because he believes Raymond is responsible for all of Zenzi's murders. Zenzi discovers Raymond and sets the club ablaze, leaving him to burn along with it.

With Max and Elusu dead and the police now after her, Zenzi feels like she has nothing else to live for and heads to the roof of the building, intending to take her own life.

Her sister and Detective Morkel track her down and attempt to reason with her, but Zenzi steps off the roof just before the credits play.

As we've already mentioned, we think it's safe to assume that Zenzi survived. It's just up to Netflix (and your views, dear reader) to confirm that theory by renewing Unseen for another season.

Who knows, maybe Zenzi could make a deal with the police and help take down some more criminal rings...
