Fruit juice cans are being urgently recalled from shops due to a risk of them exploding. Brew York has issued a precautionary recall for its Juice Forsyth product after receiving reports of over-carbonated cans bursting.

The affected 440ml cans bear the batch code Gyle 1036 and have a best-before date of July 23, 2024. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has alerted consumers: "There is a risk that the cans may explode which may cause injury."

Retailers selling the product will display a point of sale notice informing customers about the recall and advising them on what action to take if they've purchased the product.

The FSA advises: "If you have bought the above product, do not drink it as the can may explode. Please contact Brew York via store@brewyork.co.uk for a refund and replacement. Please avoid unnecessary handling of the product and do not return it to the store, instead, safely dispose of the product. For more information, please contact Brew York on 01904 848448."

If a food product is found to have an issue that makes it unfit for sale, it may be 'withdrawn' (removed from the shelves) or 'recalled' (customers are requested to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities about food-related problems, reports Bristol Live.

In certain instances, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued, providing local authorities with specific actions to take on behalf of consumers.
