The devastated father of an American student who was mauled to death by sharks while on holiday, has told how his wife tried desperately to save her.Jordan Lindsay, 21, from South Carolina, was attacked by three sharks near Rose Island in the Bahamas while snorkelling with her family.She suffered devastating injuries after being savaged by the sharks, and was later pronounced dead in hospital.Ms Lindsay’s father Michael said she had been swimming with her mother on another part of the island when the tragic incident occurred."My wife was near Jordan, a few feet away, when the shark attacked," he told the ABC News."My wife got to Jordan and pulled Jordan to shore by herself.Officials said the 21-year-old’s arms, legs and buttocks were bitten and her right arm was severed.In a separate statement, Mr Linsday said his daughter would be remembered as “a great daughter and person“.“We already miss her so much,” he said. “She was so caring, she loved all animals. An American woman on holiday in the Bahamas has been killed after being attacked by three sharks.

She suffered devastating injuries after being savaged by the sharks.
Officials said her arms, legs and buttocks were bitten and her right arm was severed.
The 21-year-old's parents and other family members saw the sharks and yelled a warning but she did not hear them in time.
She was pronounced dead in hospital.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation issued a statement expressing its condolences and "deepest sympathies" to the family.
"We can confirm a U.S. citizen in the Bahamas succumbed to her injuries following a shark attack on June 26," a State Department spokesperson said.
Her father Michael Lindsey said in a statement: "Her name was Jordan Lindsey...we already miss her so much. She was so caring. She loved all animals. It's ironic she would die getting attacked by a shark."
After the attack, several tour boat workers jumped into the water to try and save her and an emergency boat arrived on the scene to rush her to a hospital, a witness told MailOnline.
