A model was scalped and drained of all her blood in an horrific killing in Los Angeles, according to an autopsy report.

Ukrainian-born Iana Kasian, 30, was found dead in a West Hollywood apartment in May 2016.

Blake Leibel, her boyfriend and the father of her one-year-old daughter, has been charged with murder and may face the death penalty if convicted.

Ms Kasian died from being drained of her blood and a blunt trauma to the head. She is also believed to have been tortured for hours in the apartment.

The gruesome details of the autopsy report have now been published in US media. It states parts of Ms Kasian’s scalp appeared to have been ripped away, while she had bite marks on her jaw.

Dr James Ribe, of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, said: “I have never seen this before. And I doubt hardly any forensic pathologists in this country or abroad have even seen this, outside of, perhaps, wartime... it’s extremely rare.”

The report also states that Ms Kasian survived for “at least eight hours approximately after receiving the scalp injury and the bruise to the collarbone”.

Mr Leibel, a comic book writer from Toronto, has pleaded not guilty. His lawyers will reportedly argue that he is mentally unfit for trial.
