Yahoo News Valerie Bertinelli Fans Say She "Deserves Happiness" Amid a Romantic Tribute to Boyfriend
It's been almost three months since Valerie Bertinelli introduced fans to her boyfriend Mike Goodnough, and she's proclaiming their love in the sweetest way on social media.
In a new post uploaded on the Food Network alum's Instagram on June 25, folks witnessed the new romance in bloom with a heartfelt note. Alongside a sweet selfie of just Mike, Valerie expressed how her beau has helped her be more open to love again, after the ending of her 11-year marriage to her ex-husband Tom Vitale in June 2022 (she also was married to the late musician Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007, and he is the father of her son Wolfgang "Wolfie" Van Halen).
"This guy," she wrote in a passionate tribute. "So I pretty much started my healing journey in earnest at the end of 2022. I wanted my life to be different than it was and I wanted to be a whole and emotionally healthy human being. Being vulnerable and authentic are two things I thought I had really worked on and accomplished and I really thought I had conquered most of my demons."
"Learning to trust again after having that trust destroyed is not an easy thing," she added. "Those demons want to protect you from being vulnerable and emotionally exposed ever again. This man is worth fighting the rest of my demons for. He is the most thoughtful, kind, gentle, intelligent, funny, and grateful man I’ve ever met. And look at him. 🥰 I mean … "
When fans saw Valerie share a public display of affection for Mike amid a rocky romantic past, they couldn't help but support her and her new relationship.
"We all deserve truth, love and peace. Well done Val... ❤️," one person wrote. "I’m just so glad you’ve found each other. You deserve happiness. You’re amazing @wolfiesmom 💗," another declared. "Omgoodness this is so wonderful!!!!!!! You deserve all things good and blessed!!!! 🔥🙌," a different follower added.
As fans may remember, Valerie teased she was seeing someone new in an article with People back in April. She went Instagram official with Mike later that month, and has since documented various moments in their romance.
At the time of talking about Mike to the outlet, she stated that she not only was "in love," she didn't think she would be able to find love again.
"I’m in love," she revealed. "It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again... My belly is flip-flopping. This was not supposed to happen."
