A VAN driver has been hit with a three-year road ban after getting behind the wheel while on cannabis.

Tyler Cookson, of Wilson Crescent, Lostock Gralam, was driving along Fryer Road in Northwich when he was caught on October 29 last year.

A subsequent blood test revealed the 29-year-old had 3.6µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (a component of cannabis) in his system.

The legal limit is 2µg/L.

Cookson appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on May 21 where he pleaded guilty to a charge of drug-driving.

Taking his admission into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for three years and fined him £600.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £240 surcharge, taking his total court bill to £925.
