A romantic Valentine’s Day drawing might have got Vanessa Hudgens into a spot of bother, according to reports.

Yikes.

The drawing in question was a heart with ‘Vanessa + Austin’ [Butler, her boyfriend] written inside, seemingly carved into red rock in Arizona.

The actress reportedly posted the photo on Instagram on Valentine’s Day, but it has since been deleted.

Though it is not clear exactly where the photo was taken or how the drawing was made (carved or with chalk), TMZ reports that Vanessa is now being investigated by the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest near Sedona for allegedly defacing the rocks.

Federal law prohibits anyone from ‘damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States’.

Defacing a natural feature on US Forest Service land carries a maximum $5000/£3500 fine, and/or a possible six months in jail.

According to The Independent, spokesman Brady Smith has said he’s not sure whether law enforced has located a matching heart in the forest, and that they will be looking into social media posts and speaking to witnesses.

He added: “People make mistakes whether knowingly or unknowingly,” but that that doesn’t excuse illegal activity.
