After the official UK release date of Spider-Man: Into Spider Verse today, Venom screenwriter Jeff Pinker has discussed the possibility that Spider-Man could appear in a future Venom movie.

The superhero film, starring Tom Hardy in the role of Eddie Brock, made a huge hit at the box office this year. Even though it's not clear whether Marvel fans can expect a combined universe of Spider-Man and other secondary characters, Pinker has teased about the possibility.

Speaking to Discussing Film (reported by Screen Rant), Pinker gave a hint that there have been conversations going on.

He told Discussing Film: "Without revealing anything that I’m not allowed to reveal, it is not impossible that in a future/upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role... I think it’s fair to say that everyone involved would be very excited by a Spider-Man/Venom movie."

Venom's performance has already made a solid foundation for a future sequel, but Sony are yet to reveal plans on whether they will be making one.

In terms of when we can expect this sequel, Sony has scheduled 'Untitled Sony/Marvel Sequel' for October 2, 2020 and fans can only assume that is Venom 2.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is out today (December 12) in the UK and on December 14 in the US.
