Brenda Blethyn was seen filming Vera in an unexpected location on Thursday, with the acclaimed actress spotted at a County Durham school, as production on the drama's final ever series nears an end.

When it was announced by ITV back in April that the much loved Sunday night will be wrapping up in early 2025, with two feature length tales, lead star Brenda admitted she was sad to be saying 'cheerio' to her famous alter ego and, as upset fans come to terms with the fact that Vera won't be around for much longer, BAFTA winner Brenda has been in front of camera all over the North East to shoot her final scenes.

Having been seen in Cambois on the first day of filming, alongside returning sidekick David Leon, Brenda has also visited the likes of Gateshead, South Shields, Hartlepool and Whitley Bay and, earlier this week was in Glanton in Northumberland, as both the village and the local pub were renamed for the purposes of the plot.

And there was another change of location for Brenda and the Vera crew on Thursday, with the actress, of course wearing her instantly recognisable trench coat and fishing hat, snapped at Barnard Castle School, in an image than was then shared on social media. And just to absolutely confirm it was her, Vera's famous Land Rover was parked right next to Brenda as she walked by.

Brenda is set to make a return to Glanton at the end of next week, after the second lot of filming in the village was pushed back to make sure that road closures weren't in place on the day of the general election. Rather than Thursday, July 4, the day when the country will go to the polls, filming has now been pushed back 24 hours until Friday, July 5.

And, after several call outs for extras to film on that day, another appeared online earlier this week, with supporting actors needed for a huge parade scene.
