The BAFTA winner ended her statement talking about the 'friendship' she's received from the North East and, taking to X at the weekend, she responded to a message from a member of staff from Washington Riding Centre, who wrote: "Brenda you're our northern treasure and you'll always have can place in our heart. Hope you can visit WRC one last time before you leave."

Brenda replied to reveal she was very much 'looking forward' to visiting the centre, which she became a patron of in 2021. The centre offers riding lessons for people with disabilities and it was the woman who grooms Brenda's dog Jack, who recommended that the actress pay a visit, due to her love of animals.

Two years ago Brenda opened a new sensory garden at the centre, commenting: "They have done a wonderful job - it's such a peaceful place to be, it's lovely," she said, as heaped praise on the staff and volunteers.
