Video Said to Show Islamic State Helicopter Strike In Arish, Egypt

A video released by Islamic State-affiliated Amaq News on Thursday, December 21, is said to show a Kornet anti-tank missile striking a US-made Egyptian military Black Hawk helicopter in Arish, Egypt, on December 19. An army officer was killed.

News outlets reported on an attack in northern Sinai; further, five militants were reported killed in arrest raids near the air base at Arish on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Islamic State fighters were said to be targeting Egypt’s ministers of interior and defense who were visiting the area, but neither was harmed, Reuters said, quoting a security source. Credit: Amaq News via Storyful
