Video: Would You Catch The Elevated Bus Of The Future That Hovers ABOVE Cars?
There’s a new way to avoid traffic jams… hover above them in a magic bus.
Engineers in China have designed a model of an elevated bus that would allow cars to pass underneath it on the road.
It is hoped the hover-bus will ease congestion in cities and combat pollution.
Concept models and video of the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) show how it will glide over cars below it.
The idea was unveiled at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC), and its designers plan to trial the bus for real later this year.
The first place to trial the system will be Qinhuangdao City, but there has been reported interest from France, Brazil, India and Indonesia.
TEB engineer Bai Zhiming said the bus would pick up and drop off passengers via ramps or “air-lifts” at the side of the road.
The current design envisages a bus that is 7.8m (25ft) wide, 4.6m (15ft) high and 32m (104ft) long.
Each bus could transport between 900 and 1,200 people.
