Anti-Correa Protesters Fill Quito's Santo Domingo Square

Police and protesters clashed in Ecuador’s capital on Thursday as unions, indigenous groups and environmental activists staged a general strike. At least 16 police officers were injured and 20 people were arrested, according to the Interior Ministry.

Rallies were held across the country in protest to Correa’s rule, including recent tax hikes and a proposed constitutional change that would remove all limits on presidential terms, allowing him to run again in the country’s next election. Credit: YouTube/nelson guerrero
