European MEPs Share Contrasting Views on Greek PM Tsipras

During interviews with EuroparlTV MEPs Yannick Jadot of the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, and Herbet Reul of the Group of the European People’s Party, shared contrasting views on Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras following his address to the European Parliament on July 8, three days after the Greek people voted decisively against a new bailout deal offered by the country’s creditors.

Jadot, of France, backed Tsipras’s stance, saying: “There is a staging of deep-rooted hate, personal conflicts and nationalist interests against him that will surely bring about the expulsion of Greece from the eurozone.”

Reul, of Germany, said he believed the current situation regarding Greece’s bailout programme was “Tsipras’s fault,” calling the Greek PM “an arrogant, egotistical and self-opinionated man who always blames others.” Credit: YouTube/European Parliament
