Ferguson Area Pastors Reflect on Anniversary of Protests

A video from the United Methodist Church shows two pastors reflecting on their experiences during the Ferguson protests a year ago. Matt Miofsky, The Gathering pastor, and Willis Johnson, Wellspring Church pastor, talk about how protests and unrest as a result of the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown affected their congregations and ministry. Johnson said his church, near the Ferguson Police Department, became a gathering place for prayer.

Miofsky and his congregation worked to support the community, including opening the church for day care when schools were closed. “I saw things you didn’t really see on the news,” Miofsky said, including people praying with the police. Credit: YouTube/United Methodist Church
