Francis Waves to Crowd From Popemobile on NYC's 5th Avenue

When Pope Francis climbed into the popemobile for the first time in New York City, he happened to do it in front of another church on 5th Avenue.

The Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church staff captured a video as the pope climbed into the traditional vehicle in front of the church and waved to the crowd for the first time on September 24. Francis then traveled down 5th Avenue to St. Patrick’s Cathedral where he participated in an evening prayer service.

Pope Francis’S six-day trip to the United States is his first. He landed in Washington, D.C., on September 22. His visit to the nation’s capital included a trip to the White House and an address before a joint session of Congress. He was scheduled on September 25 to speak at the United Nations, visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum for an interfaith service and celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden.
