Iran Proposes Peace Plan as UN Imposes Arms Embargo on Houthis in Yemen

Saudi Arabia and its allies targeted the northern Yemeni cities of Saada, Baqim and Qaflah on Tuesday, April 14, as Operation Decisive Storm entered its third week. The state-owned Saudi Press Agency also said the raids were carried out at a vocational training center in Casablanca as it became a Houthi entrenchment.

The Untied Nations Security Council passed a resolution to impose an arms embargo against the Houthi militias and blacklist deposed president Ali Abdullah Saleh, according to Al Arabiya.

Also on the day, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif proposed a ceasefire and multi-party talks, saying he planned to submit a peace plan aimed at resolving the crisis in Yemen to the United Nations on Wednesday, April 15. Reuters said Saudi Arabia and Egypt talked about the possibility of a “major military manoeuvre” during a meeting on the progress of the three-week-long airstrike campaign against the Houthis.
