Iraq Deploys Thousands of Troops in Attempt to Protect Pilgrims

Tens of thousands of pilgrims have filed through Baghdad this week to reach the Kadhimiya neighborhood, site of a shrine dedicated to Imam Musa Kadhim, revered by Shia Muslims. The pilgrims were targeted on Tuesday in two attacks, one by suicide bomb near Baghdad’s Tahrir Square, and another with mortar fire in a neighborhood to the north. Six were killed and at least 16 wounded. This video shows an aerial view of the pilgrims’ march. Credit: YouTube/Iraq Ministry of Defense
