Madison Protesters March for Justice for Tony Robinson

Protesters converged on the Dane County Courthouse in Madison, Wisconsin on May 13, one day after the county prosecutor said he would not file charges against the police officer who shot and killed Tony Robinson. The protesters first gathered at the site of the March 6 shooting on Williamson Street before marching downtown, causing the closure of streets along the way, according to local media.

The protest and rally stayed peaceful. Members of the group held a people’s court against local authorities at the courthouse.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne announced May 12 Madison Police Officer Matt Kenny would not face charges in the fatal shooting. Kenny is white and Robinson is biracial. The decision sparked more protests.
