Migrants Rush Macedonian-Greece Border in Search for Safety

Macedonian police confronted hundreds of migrants who tried to storm the Macedonia-Greece border on August 21, reportedly injuring several people. The rush came a day after Macedonia declared a state of emergency at two border areas where migrants, fleeing danger and persecution in their home countries, attempted to enter and cross the country to reach safer ground in the European Union.

Police reportedly fired tear gas and stun grenades, and erected a razor wire to prevent refugees from crossing the border. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty
