Missouri Provost Checks on Campus Safety

University of Missouri Provost Garnett Stokes spoke to a reporter from Columbia-based KOMU-TV on Tuesday, November 10, about the racial tensions on campus. Stokes said she went back to the school after receiving a lot of messages from students concerned about reports of KKK members on campus.

Posts on social media heightened tensions on Tuesday. Screenshots were shared of messages on the social media app Yik Yak that read, “Some of you are alright. Don’t go to campus tomorrow,” and “I’m going to stand my ground tomorrow and shoot every black person I see,” sparking fears for the safety of students. Videos circulating online also showed a man shouting racist slurs. Credit: Twitter/EHenderson_TV
