Obama Pushes for International Climate Agreement in First Facebook Video

US President Barack Obama addressed climate change in his very first Facebook video published on Monday, November 9. Obama took viewers for a tour in his backyard – the south lawn of the White House – and said he will meet world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in December.

Obama said “50 countries that represent about 90 percent of the world’s economy and carbon emission” will come together to create a legally binding and universal agreement on climate change.

Obama said he hoped his personal Facebook page would be “a place where we can have real conversations about the most important issues facing our country – a place where you can hear directly from me.” Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg left a comment under Obama’s video welcoming him to “engage with people here on Facebook.” Credit: Facebook/President Obama
