Officials Survey NYC Building Explosion Site

Two people are unaccounted for after an explosion and building collapse in New York City’s East Village on March 26. Four buildings were affected by the explosion and ensuing fire, and three of the buildings collapsed, according to city officials. Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a press conference on Friday that 22 people were injured in the incident, including 18 non-life-threatening and four critically hurt. No deaths have been reported.

As of March 27, 50 firefighters remained at the scene and have set up a collapse zone in the neighborhood. This video shows the aftermath of the scene from a nearby rooftop.
