Opposition Against Rohingya Muslims Evident at Yangon Rally

Hundreds of activists marched in Myanmar’s largest city, Yangon, on Wednesday, May 27, against Rohingya Muslims in the country. Demonstrators urged the government not to accept Rohingya Muslims rescued from the sea after attempting to flee the country. Led by about 30 Buddhist monks, demonstrators claimed that a majority of those rescued were citizens of neighboring Bangladesh and only claiming to be Rohingya to gain refugee status in Myanmar.
