Prince Harry Visits the University of Canterbury

Prince Harry toured Christchurch, New Zealand, with Prime Minister John Key on Tuesday, May 12. The prince also visited the University of Canterbury to meet with Student Volunteer Army members and speak on the importance of community action when recovering from disasters. Harry made a sweet gesture by giving cupcakes to the student volunteers.

Earlier in the day, Harry met with the Canterbury earthquake recovery minister, Gerry Brownlee, and visited an exhibition on earthquakes where he generated power by pedaling a bicycle. Christchurch, also known as Quake City, was devastated by a series of earthquakes and aftershocks in 2011. Prince Harry also met with members of the public in the city’s Cashel Mall shopping plaza.
