Pro-Democracy Banner Draped on Hong Kong's Lion Rock

A yellow banner was found hanging on Lion Rock in Hong Kong on the morning of Sunday, February 22, with the slogan “I want genuine universal suffrage”. The slogan and colour yellow were symbols of Hong Kong’s 79-day Occupy Central protests, which began in late September 2014. The banner was the latest in a series of pro-democracy messages draped on the hill overlooking Kowloon.

Pro-democracy campaigners have called for fully democratic elections when Hong Kong votes in 2017 to select its chief executive for the first time. Beijing has ruled that only candidates it has vetted will be eligible to stand.
