Red Cross Staff Evacuated After Landslides

The International Committee of the Red Cross was forced to evacuate one of its two Canadian teams from a field hospital in the remote area of Khukondole, west of Kathmandu, due to landslides triggered by the latest earthquake to strike the country on May 12.

The team of nine was operating a field hospital that had become cut off by road closures that made it unsafe to reach patients or for patients to reach it, according to a statement released by the ICRC on Thursday, May 14.

The latest 7.3 magnitude quake has claimed dozens of lives and comes weeks after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed over 8,000 people.
