Riot Police Charge Protesters Demanding Justice After #Brelotrial

Protesters marched in Cleveland on Saturday, May 23, following the acquittal of police officer Michael Brelo who fatally shot two black people during a 2012 car chase. Chanting “Hands up, don’t shoot”, the demonstrators called for justice for Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell, who were shot and killed by Brelo through a windshield.

Riot police charged marchers, as seen in this video, and a journalist at the scene cited a police commander as saying 40 people were arrested during the protest.

The trial began on April 6, with Brelo charged with voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault for the 2012 shootings. Credit: Branden Eastwood
