Russian Fleet in Caspian Sea Launches Cruise Missiles Destined for Syria

The Russian defense ministry released footage on Friday, November 20, showing what it said was the launch of cruise missiles against Islamic State sites in Syria from its fleet in the Caspian Sea. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin that the Russian fleet launched 18 cruise missiles, which struck targets in the provinces of Raqqa, Idlib and Raqqa provinces, according to a statement.

There are 10 warships taking part in Russia’s operation in the region, six of which are in the Mediterranean, the Russian defense ministry said.
