Several Dead in Attack on Garissa University

Gunmen stormed buildings at Garissa University College in northern Kenya on April 2, killing at least 15 and injuring up to 56, according to reports. A number of students were reportedly taken hostage. At the time of writing, Kenya’s Ministry of Interior said “an inter-agency security team” had secured the university, and that three student hostels had been evacuated as security forces cornered gunmen in a fourth hostel.

Early reports on social media said a spokesman for the militant group Al-Shabaab had claimed responsibility for the attack. Credit: YouTube/Citizen TV Kenya
