Severe Chile Earthquake Jangles Apartment in Coquimbo

An earthquake of 8.3 magnitude hammered the Chilean coast on Wednesday, September 16, leaving 12 dead and five missing, local officials said. Hardest hit was the coastal community of Coquimbo, where 1 million people in the region were forced to evacuate, and a tsunami wave 15 feet high lobbed boats up onto the city’s promenades.
