New South Wales Police Begin Using Body Cameras

New South Wales Police began using “Body Worn Video”, or body cameras, in Sydney’s eastern beaches on Thursday, September 17. The Eastern Beaches Local Area Command was the first of a planned rollout across the city, according to NSW Police Force Commissioner Andrew Scipione, who launched the body camera program along with the NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Police Troy Grant.

Footage collected from the cameras will be stored on the camera as an encrypted file and will be deleted once downloaded to a police database.
