Students Rally Against Education Reforms in Milan

Students across Italy marched in protest against a proposed education reform bill on March 12. Students argue that the reforms, led by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and being carried under the name of La Buona Scuola (“The Good School”), will lead to increased privization. This, they say, will come as result of changes to methods of evaluation, and cuts in funding to school construction, according to reports.

Protests took place in a number of cities, including Turin, Lecce, Pisa, and Milan, where clashes with police were reported. This video shows demonstrators in Milan. Credit: Facebook/Union of Students – student union (national page)
