Super G win for Vonn the bomb

American Lindsey Vonn made light work of heavy winds at St Moritz in Switzerland to claim the World Cup Super G. It is her 57th World Cup win and her fourth speed event victory of the season. Vonn bombed down the shortened course to finish ahead of Slovenia’s Tina Maze. High winds at the top of the piste forced organisers to start the event lower down the slope. Tina Maze, who leads the overall World Cup standings, will be pleased with her performance though she said the wind made things difficult for her. Lindsey Vonn’s compatriot Julia Mancuso took third spot. Vonn now leads the Super G table and is in fourth place in the overall standings.
