Tear Gas Fired at Protesters on Fourth Anniversary of Bahrain Uprising

Police and protesters clashed all day on Saturday, February 14, as Shia protesters took to the streets to mark the fourth anniversary of their anti-government protests. The country’s Shia majority sought political reform to give them more power under the mainly Sunni government, but their protest movement was largely crushed by authorities in 2011. Unrest continues in the island kingdom.
