UKIP MP Periscopes Queen's Arrival at Parliament

Douglas Carswell, the MP who left the Conservative Party for UKIP last winter, used the new video streaming app Periscope to broadcast Queen Elizabeth’s arrival at parliament to his followers. Carswell, who is one of the most active MPs on Twitter, with over 34,000 followers, became the first and only UKIP MP elected to parliament in the general election.

The queen arrived at Westminster Palace to deliver he Queen’s Speech, the centerpiece of the opening of parliament.

Remarking before the speech, Prime Minister David Cameron said, “Behind this Queen’s Speech is a clear vision for what our country can be. A country of security and opportunity for everyone, at every stage of life.” Credit: Periscope/Douglas Carswell
