US Coast Guard Seizes $41 Million in Drugs

The US Coast Guard seized approximately 1,100 kilograms of cocaine and 4,420 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $41 million. The drugs were intercepted in the Caribbean Sea as part of Operation Martillo and Unified Resolve and were offloaded at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach on September 29.

The Coast Guard is reporting a record year for seizing drugs. Guardsmen have removed 130 metric tons of cocaine worth $4.3 billion since October 2014, the most since 2008. Additionally, nearly 500 smuggling suspects in more than 200 cases have been prosecuted. Credit: YouTube/US Coast Guard
