US 'Reasonably Certain' Jihadi John Killed in Drone Strike

US Army Colonel Steven Warren told a press conference on November 13 that the US was “reasonably certain” that a drone strike on an Islamic State target near Raqqa had killed Mohammed Emwazi, the IS executioner known as Jihadi John. He added that it would “take some time” before the US could “formally declare that we know that we’ve had success.”

He said that, while Emwazi was not a major tactical or operational figure, his public status and role as a recruiter meant his death would be a “significant” blow to Islamic State. Describing Emwazi as a “human animal” who displayed “absolute barbarism,” Warren said, “killing him is probably making the world a little bit better place.” Credit: DVIDS
