The 2025 BMW M5 enters its seventh generation with a new look, more power, and an electrified powertrain.

The 2025 BMW M5 marks the start of the seventh generation of the famed sports sedan.

For the first time ever, the M5 makes use of an electrified powertrain.

The bulk of the M5's power is still sourced from a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8, though it pairs with an electric motor to generate 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.

A temporary pre-gearing in the car's launch-control system allows the electric motor's torque to be boosted from 206 to 332 pound-feet for even more violent launches off the line.

The new car is 1.2 inches longer overall, 2.7 inches wider, and 2.1 inches taller than the outgoing model, with the wheelbase stretching by 0.9 inch.

Between the new tech and the larger dimensions, the new M5 tips the scales at 5390 pounds, which is 1153 pounds heavier than the old car.

There's a stiffer body structure under the skin along with reinforced suspension mounts and additional cross-bracing under the hood.

An optional set of larger carbon-ceramic brakes increases stopping power and reduces brake fade while saving roughly 55 pounds compared to the standard set.

Pricing for the 2025 M5 will start at $120,675.

Production of the new car will begin in July with global sales starting in November.
