The 2025 BMW M5 is entering its seventh generation, which brings a slew of new technology to the nameplate.
The flagship M car features a plug-in-hybrid powertrain for the first time ever—with an electric motor bringing the total output up to 717 horsepower.
A 14.8-kWh lithium-ion battery under the M5's floor allows the car to travel roughly 25 miles on battery power alone.
In addition to the fully electric mode, there are four additional drive modes, including the standard hybrid mode, a battery-saver mode, and two modes intended for track use.
There's a new flat-bottomed, three-spoke M leather steering wheel with a red center marker at the top.
The control panel follows the cue of other recent M cars with permanent buttons for the DSC settings.
The rest of the interior is similar to the standard 5-series with adjustable ambient lighting and dual wireless phone chargers under the climate controls.
The list of paint options includes one solid color and nine metallic options.
Pricing for the 2025 M5 will start at $120,675.
Production of the new car will begin in July with global sales starting in November.
