A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a single-vehicle collision on the M5 on Saturday evening.

Emergency services attended the two-lane crash, northbound between junctions 24 and 23 near Bridgwater, just after 6pm on June 29.

Lanes one and two of the M5 northbound were closed for one hour and 40 minutes following the crash.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police were called just after 6pm on Saturday 29 June by Highways England reporting a single vehicle collision in lanes one and two.

"Officers attended along with ambulance who checked over the vehicle occupants at the scene.

"The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and the other people in the car were able to go on their way.

"The vehicle was recovered and the lanes reopened at about 7.40pm."
